NAZ CEO Recognized with National Cradle-to-Career Champion Award

Four women stand with their arms around each other with one holding an award. All are wearing purple tops.

We are thrilled to share that Sondra Samuels, NAZ President and CEO, has been honored with the Bill Henningsgaard Cradle-to-Career Champion Award at the national convening of StriveTogether, a national network of community partners dedicated to ensuring every child has an equal opportunity to thrive from cradle to career.

This prestigious award, named for a tireless advocate who believed no child’s potential should be limited by their circumstances, recognizes individuals who demonstrate passion, persistence, and results in ensuring every child can thrive from cradle to career.

This year’s award was presented by Connie Ballmer, co-founder of the Ballmer Group. Her recognition is especially meaningful because the Ballmer Group has been a key national champion of community-driven solutions that tackle intergenerational poverty and build stronger pathways for children, as well as a longtime supporter of NAZ and the work we do in North Minneapolis.

For us at NAZ, this moment highlights not only Sondra’s leadership but also the collective impact of parents and caregivers, partners, volunteers, funders, and staff—our village—who are working to ensure Northside scholars succeed.

Congratulations, Sondra! This honor is a testament to your vision, resilience, and unwavering belief in our community.
